Four Tit - Fraîche Talent DJ FF#18
Nicole Hartley and Ruth Edmonson make up the London based duo, Four Tit. Genius name, impeccable music selections and more sass than you can shake a stick at. Relative newcomers to the scene, with just a couple of years DJ-ing under their belts, the pair have already built up a solid reputation and flurry of fine gigs. We're delighted to have them as our Fèmmme Fraîche Fresh Talent this month and as their music taste is so on point, we've also asked them to supply us with the second instalment of our 'Friday Feels' spotify playlists, perfect weekend listening fodder. Scroll down to the bottom for the playlist, but first check out our interview with Ruth & Nicole, to get a little background on Four Tit and what to expect from their set at Fèmmme Fraîche #18 on Sat 25th.
FOUR TIT
Hi girls, we're super excited to showcase Four Tit as this months Fèmmme Fraîche - Fresh Talent and for having you come to play our Bank Holiday bonanza and being a duo, that means twice the fun! We're loving your vibes, your analogue aesthetic and your name, which is absolute genuis, So let's start with that, how did the name Four Tit come about?
We thought it up years ago at a party while joking that we were an International DJ duo. When we actually started, we tried to think up a new, professional name for ages and that it turns out wasn't going to happen...Then Nic got drunk at a Christmas Party and asked Four Tet for his seal of approval and that was that.
Well if the man Four Tet approved, it's rude not to! So I had the pleasure to meet you both at Noisily Festival last month, but how and when pray tell did you guys meet each other?
Like all great love stories we met at a temp job on reception. One of the parts of the job was to be in control of the office music. So we just chatted and did that and bonded over music and everything else. Nic was let go when they realised she’d only sent one email in months… and Ruth followed shortly after. Years later, Four Tit was born.
A true Love story indeed! so at what point did you decide to start DJ-ing together?
We started a couple of years ago, in Nic's Dads garage. We then got some lessons with infamous sharp shooter Jonny Tawn AKA one half of duo Jive Talk and that was it. We were hooked.
Had either of you had experience DJ-ing before?
Not a bit. Apart from the office Spotify playlist...which I supposed we can count as the embryo of our DJ career ;) Ruth has been producing music since she was a teenager, so that definitely helped, and now we both produce original music together for Four Tit.
We're very excited about Four Tit forthcoming music! So tell us about your first DJ set as Four Tit, how did it come about and how did it go?
Fucking amazing. It was a festival gig supporting Artful Dodger. We were SO excited. He bailed on the gig, we went up early, we’d written down every transition and were crapping ourselves... 1 song in and we had a request for Shakira. Nailed it.
I sincerely hope you played Shakira, keep the fans happy n all that! So burning question, do you think DJ-ing as a duo is easier or harder than solo? What’s the pro’s and cons?
4 EVER TOGETHER. (Unless one of us can't make it then its DJ Ruthless and DJ Knickerless.) We're best mates, we get to play music and hang out and it's work. Who we kidding it's not work it's paradissssse.
So Four Tit forevermore then! And what's been your favourite Four Tit gig until now?
Noisily Festival, just a few weeks back. Incredible festival, playing on the all-female WOMB 2 stage was awesome, as well as getting to know some of London's fiercest female DJs. Also Prince of Wales main room at the By Day By Night party - great crowd, and it was a dirty house tech vibe. Yum.
WOMB 2 stage at Noisily was pretty special indeed, not least because that's where we all met and what brought you to me inviting you girls to FF (shouts out to Lucy & Petra of WOMB 2) OK so where would you both like to see Four Tit take you?
Hot places. As well as our plans to start releasing our original music and remixes at the end of the year - that's what we're most excited about.
yessss and what can we expect from Four Tit at Femmme Fraiche on the 25th?
Tech house sssexy stuff with triple S.
