Threads IWD - Fèmmme Fraîche Takeover w. Ms.G

Juniper aka Ms.G, is no stranger to us here at Fèmmme Fraîche, usually seen casually strutting their stuff, as one of our fabulous gogo dancers, they recently utilised their exquisite music taste and turned their hand to DJ-ing and we’re 100% here for it. Ms.G is absolutely the addictive ingredient you need at your party, and we can’t get enought!. Their debut DJ set for us in January, was killer and you’ll be seeing more of them in Summer, when they join us for our stage takeovers at both Wilderness and Body Movements festival, expect basement-booty-bangers a plenty. Since we’re such fans, it seemed only right to give them some air-time and invite them to be one of our three showcased DJs for our International Womans day takeover on Threads FM. Their 40-min mix is a tasty dive into Queer House bangers, Acid, Electro and even includes a newly revamped version of their track Sh*t kicker. Their guest mix aired on Threads on IWD Tuesday 8th Feb from 22:30 - 23:20 but you can stream below. Get to know Ms.G with our quick Q&A below.

QUICK Q&A WITH MS.G

What is your DJ Name?
Ms.G

What are your Pronouns?
They/them/she/her

Where are you currently based?
East London

Where are you originally from?
Born in Hong Kong where my family are, but I moved to small seaside town in South Devon where I grew up from the age of 6.

Describe your sound in 6 words?
High-frequency, Gay/F*ggy, Acid, Dark, Banging, unexpected.

Tell us a bit about the mix, how did you curate it.
I wanted the mix to be representative of me and what I truly love to be playing, currently I do a lot of warm up sets and are often expected to play disco which I adore, but my true passions lie in these much darker clubby acid sounds. Saying that, I still wanted to keep it fun and light in parts, and kept a vocal going through out. I am a sucker for a good vocal.

How long have you been DJ-ing and how did you first get into it?
I've been djing professionally in a club setting, just over 2 years, really just in, during and out of the pandemic where I started to be booked and recognised as a DJ. In a broad sense, Ive always been massively into music and it has been an integral part of my life ever since I was young. Studying it, writing it performing it, being a general loud noise maker.

Moving to London, exploring nightlife, I found myself in bands; post punk, electro clash. Before I knew it I was in clubs dancing on bars and out all the time. I found my chosen family in the LGBTQI+ community in East London. It is this community that eventually noticed I have a talent and knowledge for music, and began to give me the DJing opportunities I am blessed to have today.

What are you goals in music?
My goals in music are ever evolving, at this point I just want to get to a place where I can be solely playing music I love to people I love, have a really nice time doing so and nothing else and make a living. And to be honest, once I achieve that, anything beyond will be a bonus I am grateful for.

Do you have anything music-wise you're particularly excited about this year?
Absolutely, I am due to play at Printworks in April for Sink the Pinks Final Party. As well as Body Movements and Wilderness with Femmme Fraiche. I also aim to release another track this year all things going well.

Where can we see you playing in the next few months.
Printworks and festivals, as mentioned above, and will most likely find me at Dalston Superstore and The Glory of which I play at fairly regularly.
