The lovely Lucy aka LUCiD will be headlining this weekends Fèmmme Fraîche party, bringing some pumping tunes to the basement alongside our resident Michelle Manetti and guest Natalie Sandi. We had a little catch-up with LUCiD before Saturdays show, to get the post-lockdown lowdown.

INTERVIEW WITH LUCiD

We're très excited to have you at this Saturdays Fèmmme Fraîche event, so first of all describe your DJ style in five words?

synthy, squelchy, eclectic, disco and fun

Ooooh exactly how we like it! So when did you start DJ-ing and what inspired you to start?

I started quite late, when I was 25 after being asked to play at a mates party. I had been throwing parties for a while so it was only a matter of time.

It's never too late!! So what's the most challenging thing you find yourself facing with DJ-ing?

Probably the hours.. it can be pretty antisocial! Ive missed a lot of family and close friend's events because Ive been working at a gig.

Yeh, I can vouch for that same DJ problem! But it's still worth it!!! so what advice would you give to other wmxn looking to start DJ-ing?

Just get out there and go for it! Do as many gigs as you can. Go to every event you want to play at and try and meet everyone involved. You’re much more likely to get booked if you make an impression like that.

YES 100% agree with this, super solid advice. Ok so let's talk lockdown, how have you been coping or keeping yourself occupied?

In the first lockdown I did a lot of livestreams and mixes but I was getting pretty depressed about the state of the industry and as always, that I wasn’t doing enough. So I took a bit of a break from music and I went a bit course mad; I did a Wim Hof course, a yoga teacher training and started lino printing. I also started a psychology degree. I was also still doing my 2 radio shows a month; on 1BTN every first Tuesday and on Balamii every third Saturday. That has kept me pretty busy!

Yes, sounds like you've been busy indeed! well we're slowly coming out of lockdown, what's the one thing you're most looking forward to returning?

I can’t wait to be playing proper gigs again! Or dancing at them for that matter - I miss the dance floor more than anything and I can’t wait to get sweaty with strangers.

EXCATLY THIS!! OK so is there anything you're dreading?

I don’t think I’m dreading anything, but I am going to be more cautious about making too many plans as I am definitely more aware of looking after myself better!

Totally, so finally what can we expect to hear from you on Sat?

Acidic basement realness. I’ll be bringing the heat!

AMAZING!! We cam't wait. - Sadly for those of you who don't already have tix we are fully sold out. But make sure you follow LUCiD on her socials listed below to see where else you can catch her play
